Our popular lecture series听Showcasing Art History听aims to share 91影视鈥檚 world-renowned art-historical expertise with anyone interested in the arts and art history.听Speakers include faculty members, Courtauld alumni and associates, and present recent research in a lively manner suitable to a non-specialist audience.
Our five upcoming summer term lectures (every Tuesday from 28 April to 26 May 2020) explore a particularly exciting and creative moment 鈥 culturally, politically and socially 鈥 in the history of the USA.听 A dynamic group of specialists will focus on avant-garde art developments in听1960s and 1970s California, ranging from a particular West-Coast take on Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism, to radical installations, to a vibrant Pop art and underground film culture.
Due to the present听听these five lectures will be delivered online for the first time.听This is an opportunity to offer a wider range of people the chance to enjoy this fascinating lecture series, using tried-and-tested methods of teaching, easily accessible to anyone with a smartphone, tablet or computer and internet access. Lecturers will produce a short video introduction, and a one-hour narrated PowerPoint presentation for each session, delivered to you in form of a YouTube video link.
Our popular post-lecture Q&A sessions will also continue, and will be based on your questions and comments, submitted in advance and discussed live by a moderator with the relevant lecturer, then shared as a recording two days after each lecture. All attendees will have access to relevant pre-course reading materials, handouts and pdfs of the PowerPoints uploaded on our Virtual Learning Environment [VLE].
The Showcasing Art History lectures will take place for five weeks from Tuesday 28 April, and each lecture will last from 7pm to 8pm.
The series costs 拢95, and can be booked here.
