In 2017 as a part of “Bosch inÌýBruges” Festival,Ìýto commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death ofÌýHieronymus Bosch,Ìý³Ò´Ç±ô²õ³ó¾±°ù¾±â€™s dramaticule °¿°ù¾±´Ú±ð³Ü²õÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý°¿³Ü²ú±ô¾±±ð³Ù³Ù²¹Ìýwas performed in front and around Hieronymus Bosch’s triptychÌýThe Last Judgment.ÌýGolshiriÌýrecounts the world of Bosch accompanied by the soprano Sarah Van Mol, actress Juliette de Castille,ÌýtheÌýchoir of Collegium deÌýDunisÌýand their conductor IgnaceÌýThevelein. The libretto is based onÌýtheÌýEnglish translations of the hymnÌý¶Ù¾±±ð²õÌý¾±°ù²¹±ðÌýand the compositionÌýis based onÌýsecular and religious works of Burgundian composers together with AlfredÌýSchnittke.Ìý The exhibition was curated by Michel Dewilde,ÌýGroeningemuseum and Arentshuis.
AsÌýGolshiriÌýwill discuss after the screening, hisÌýdramaticuleÌýis inspired byÌýBosch’s corpus of works and secular polyphonic songs of the epoch, especially those that Bosch and his fraternity openly criticised and opposed, namely The Illustrious Brotherhood of Our Blessed Lady.Ìý
For security reasons,Ìýonly 50 people could attend the final performance, so it wasÌýfilmed from different angles, followed by a monumental task ofÌýeditingÌýandÌýmixing withÌýfootagesÌýthat wereÌýfilmed duringÌýtheÌýrehearsals.ÌýThe result is amongÌý³Ò´Ç±ô²õ³ó¾±°ù¾±â€™sÌýmost profound statements on the conditions of creative resistance, judgment, and exile.Ìý
BarbadÌýGolshiri,ÌýbornÌý1982Ìýin Tehran, Iran, studied painting in Tehran. For the past twenty years he has worked in different fields and is considered a multidisciplinary artist. He has had more than a hundred exhibitions.ÌýGolshiri’s focusÌýinÌýthe pastÌýfewÌýyears has beenÌýonÌýcemeteries and making of grave markers, cenotaphs and memorials. He is also a critic and a translator of Samuel Beckett’sÌýdramatic works intoÌýPersian. His worksÌýare inÌýsuchÌýcollectionsÌýas the British Museum, Los Angeles County MuseumÌýof Art, Freiburg Modern Art Museum, Sound Florida University Museum, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art,ÌýandÌýcemeteries in Iran, France,Ìýand Canada. He now resides in France.Ìý
